Greetings to all who find themselves in Hanover and the area for this wet summer! We hope this finds you all enjoying your summer and your studies. Since Memorial Day, the number of Dominican Friars has doubled here at Aquinas House. You may have already met our Dominican student brothers assigned here from the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC while they have been out and bout in their summer apostolates, but we wanted to take a moment to formally introduce them:
Br. Sebastian White, OP is originally from Waterville, ME and is a transitional deacon who will be ordained to the priesthood in May of 2014. Br. Sebastian is assisting at St. Denis the Dominican parish here in Hanover with liturgy and parish activities. Br. Sebastian has already presented at Theology on Tap this summer. Join him for an informal discussion group entitled “The Dead (Christian) Poets Society” for three consecutive Wednesdays starting this July 10th at 9:00PM at Sanborn Library’s Medieval Room.
Br. Clement Dickie, OP is originally from Nashua, NH and recently finished his third year of philosophical and theological studies. Also, he is currently preparing to profess solemn vows to God in the Dominican Order on August 10th in Washington, DC. Br. Clement is assisting in various activities at AQ this summer which includes conducting the Dartmouth Catholic Christian Student Leadership Classes on Monday evenings as well as organizing a few special events.
Br. John Maria Devaney, OP is originally from Clinton, NJ and is about to begin his last year in the Masters of Divinity/Bachelor’s of Sacred Theology program at the Dominican House of Studies. Br. John is currently a summer intern in the Clinical Pastoral Education Program (CPE) at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center’s Chaplaincy Department. Br. John will be hosting the July 23rd Theology on Tap at Murphy’s in Hanover at 9PM. The topic will be what Catholicism teaches as “The Four Final Things: Death, Judgement , Heaven and Hell.” This should prove to be an exciting evening as we explore what awaits us at the end of our earthly pilgrimage……for better or worse.
If you see the brothers around AQ, St. Denis, the hospital or Hanover be sure to say hello and introduce yourself. They will be keeping all of you and your summer studies in their prayers!
